Find and log food
Open Foods, search for a food, choose a meal and portion, then save. Nutrition values are estimates and may differ from a particular brand or recipe. Use manual entry for package values or foods missing from the catalog. Enter a name, portion and calories, choose a meal, and review the diary date before saving. Other nutrients are optional; blank values remain unknown and totals identify partial nutrition. Enter zero only when the value is known to be zero.
Read a nutrition label
Choose a clear photo of the printed nutrition panel. Review every extracted number and its serving basis before saving. The scanner reads English printed labels on your iPhone; it does not estimate a meal from a photograph. If camera access is off, enable it in iPhone Settings or choose an existing photo. You can always enter values manually.
Recipes and portions
Create a recipe in Kitchen, choose ingredients and quantities, and enter the number of servings it makes. Include cooking oils and sauces. Add the finished cooked weight to log a weighed portion. Editing a recipe changes future logs; existing diary entries keep their saved nutrition values.
Plan a cooking session
In Kitchen, open Meal Prep Studio, choose recipes and adjust servings to preview the combined ingredient quantities. The plan lasts for the current session. Shopping-list export is not available in the current standard build.
Back up or move your diary
Open You → Export full backup and save the JSON file somewhere you control. On the destination installation, choose You → Restore a backup. Restoration replaces the current diary, so export it first if you want to keep it. CSV export is for viewing food entries; use the full JSON backup to restore the app. If the app pauses changes because it cannot open a saved diary, look for Recover your diary in You. First choose Export original saved file for recovery and keep that copy. Then choose Recover from a full backup to select a previously exported MyPiatto JSON backup. Start a fresh diary creates an empty replacement; it does not repair the original. If recovery controls are unavailable, contact support with the error message before replacing any files.
Optional Apple or Google sign-in
Open You → Sign in or create an account and choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google. You can keep using the app as a guest. Signing in opens a separate diary on this device; your guest entries reappear when you sign out. Sign-in does not synchronize diaries between phones. To move entries deliberately, export a full backup from the source diary and restore it into the destination diary. Restoration replaces the destination diary. Google sign-in is registered under the verified MyPiatto name. After deleting a MyPiatto account, the same Google or Apple account can be used to create a fresh MyPiatto account; deleted diary entries are not restored.
Delete your data
You → Reset this diary clears the current local diary; it does not close an online account. You → Your account → Delete account removes your MyPiatto account and, after the server confirms deletion, its diary on this device. Apple may request authorization again to revoke the connection. Your guest diary and other accounts remain separate. Exported files, shared copies and device backups must be managed separately. If deletion fails or its result is uncertain, contact support before creating another account.
Privacy and payments
Your food journal stays on your device. Optional accounts use Apple or Google and Supabase for sign-in. The app has no ads or live subscription purchases. Device backup services may keep copies of app data. Read the privacy policy for details.
MyPiatto provides nutrition estimates, not medical advice. The app is being prepared for release.
